Los Angeles, CA — Oct 2025.
The Society for Brain Mapping & Therapeutics (SBMT) is honored to announce that Dr. Hideyuki Okano, Dean of the Keio University School of Medicine and Team Leader at the RIKEN Center for Brain Science (Japan), will be one of the keynote speakers at the SBMT 2026 Annual World Congress, to be held in Los Angeles, USA.
With the theme “Integrating Brain, Mind, and Technology for Global Health,” the SBMT 2026 Congress will bring together the world’s foremost experts in neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and regenerative medicine to explore how innovation is transforming the understanding and treatment of brain disorders.
Dr. Hideyuki Okano is recognized internationally as one of the leading figures in neuroregeneration, iPS cell biology, and brain mapping.
As Dean of Keio University School of Medicine and Team Leader of the Laboratory for Marmoset Neural Architecture at RIKEN, his leadership has driven groundbreaking advances in neural repair, stem cell therapy, and the development of non-human primate models for neurological and psychiatric diseases.
With an h-index of 101, more than 600 scientific publications, and over 39,000 citations, Dr. Okano’s career reflects an extraordinary commitment to translating basic neuroscience into clinical applications. He serves on multiple international editorial boards, including Cell Stem Cell, eLife, and Stem Cell Reports, and has been honored with Japan’s prestigious Medal of Honor with Purple Ribbon for his contributions to science and education.
As Project Leader of Japan’s Brain/MINDS Initiative, Dr. Okano has played a central role in advancing brain mapping technologies using marmoset models — providing unprecedented insights into brain circuitry, neural plasticity, and disease modeling. His keynote at SBMT 2026 will explore the intersection of neurotechnology, stem cell research, and translational neuroscience, offering a vision for the next decade of global brain health innovation.
“The future of neuroscience depends on our ability to bridge biology and technology — and to use that bridge for human healing,”
said Dr. Hideyuki Okano.
The Society for Brain Mapping & Therapeutics (SBMT) is a multidisciplinary association founded to promote advanced research and innovation in brain mapping, neurotechnology, and therapeutics. SBMT brings together leading scientists, engineers, physicians, policymakers, and innovators from more than 30 countries to foster collaboration in the development of transformative technologies for brain health.
