A Network Beyond Borders

The Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT) is more than just a congress; it’s a vast ecosystem of over 100,000 scientists, engineers, surgeons, and physicians united by a singular purpose: improving patient outcomes for neurological disorders. Our Global Physicians & Scientists (GPS) program is the operational arm of this mission, leveraging our collective expertise to address critical healthcare gaps across the globe.

Purpose of the Global Physicians and Surgeons (GPS) Initiative

The GPS Initiative is a collaboration between diverse foundations, including the World Brain Mapping Foundation and Sunder Foundation. Our primary goal is to provide essential medical humanitarian assistance, with a current immediate focus on Ukraine, specifically:

  • Combat Casualty Care: The GPS Initiative provides specialized training and support to Ukrainian physicians and neurosurgeons in the field of combat casualty care. This includes training on how to treat complex injuries sustained in war zones, such as gunshot wounds, shrapnel injuries, and blast trauma.
  • Medical Supply Support: We coordinate the delivery of critical medical supplies to hospitals and clinics in need. This includes essential supplies such as bandages, antibiotics, and specialized surgical equipment necessary for life-saving procedures.

The GPS Initiative is a critical component of the SBMT’s mission to improve global brain health. By providing rapid and effective medical humanitarian assistance, the SBMT is helping to ensure that people in crisis zones have immediate access to the medical care they urgently need.
